Birth Mark Doula, Toronto
Specialty: postpartum, infant massage, Spanish speaking
Laura (she/her) is a postpartum doula. After fifteen years of teaching English and Spanish in elementary schools, Laura decided to make a change in her professional life. Motivated by her experience as a mother and her desire to help others, she chose to become a postpartum doula and started her journey with Doula Canada.
As a postpartum doula and mother, Laura understands the importance of having nonjudgemental emotional support while adjusting to the challenges of life with a newborn. She respects parents’ feelings, values, and parenting choices. She tries to create a calm and encouraging environment where families can feel comfortable and gain confidence around baby. A firm believer in the benefits of nurturing touch, Laura is working towards obtaining her certification as an infant massage instructor from the International Association of Infant Massage. She is also a sex and birth support person, and most importantly, she is the General Manager of the Blanco-Coloma household, a 24 hour position that involves fulfilling the needs of three highly energetic, demanding and loving boys.
When not surrounded by little ones, Laura loves to read, travel, bake, and spend time with her family.
