Birth & Postpartum Doula Support
Navigating any reproductive health event can be overwhelming. Working with a Birth Mark reproductive support doula increases access to information, services, and resources that build confidence and provide individualized support.
At Birth Mark, we passionately strive to revolutionize birthing and postpartum experiences by offering versatile non-medical assistance tailored to diverse settings, addressing often overlooked needs during this transformative journey.
Working with community partners, we provide personalized one-on-one care and resources, equipping individuals for their birthing experiences, championing rights and supporting a successful journey through reproductive well-being.
Birth Mark takes a client-led approach; and in the case of BIPGM and 2SLGBTQIA clients, will facilitate the acquisition of informational and emotional support which is aware of systemic injustices and potential resulting traumas. Birth Mark recognizes the ways in which conventional practices may have impacted the historical and lived experiences of these clients, their families and their health outcomes.
BIRTH DOULA SUPPORT
Obtaining client-centred information to encourage self advocacy and informed decision making
Formulating realistic birth preferences that match your values, needs and chosen place of birth
Modelling and encouraging effective communication strategies for you and your support person with your birthing team
Suggesting comfort measures such as: position changes, comforting touch, acupressure, movement, visualization, encouragement, relaxation and breathing techniques
Infant feeding support
Currently our reproductive support workers/doulas work with community partners to offer non-medical, non-directive, emotional, physical, and informational support. We collaborate with clients throughout the prenatal period, stand by them during labor and birth, and continue to support them in the immediate postpartum period. In addition to continuous care, our doulas advocate for client birthing preferences, ensuring you feel empowered and supported throughout your reproductive journey.
