To ensure that all families—regardless of income, identity, or circumstance—receive compassionate, culturally responsive, and relationship-based perinatal support. We provide skilled doulas and reproductive support practitioners who deliver education, advocacy, and care, helping parents navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with dignity and confidence.

About Birth Mark

Founded in 2018, Birth Mark is a registered charity advancing reproductive justice and perinatal equity locally in the GTHA and nationally. We address gaps in access to prenatal education, birth support, and postpartum care for families most impacted by systemic barriers—including young parents, racialized and newcomer communities, 2SLGBTQ+ families, individuals experiencing housing or income insecurity, and those facing multiple intersecting challenges.

Lasting change requires more than meeting immediate needs. Our multi-pronged approach works on three levels: supporting individuals through personalized one-on-one care and education; strengthening communities with workshops, peer groups, and community-based programming; and transforming systems by training healthcare providers to deliver culturally safe, affirming care. By combining direct service, community engagement, and provider education, we drive systemic improvements in perinatal care.

Our Reproductive Support Practitioners and certified full-spectrum doulas operate in healthcare and community settings, providing no-cost prenatal education, labour support, postpartum care, and resource navigation. They offer unbiased information and advocacy, including for those accessing abortion support, fertility care, and resources and hands-on support through the perinatal period. By centring care around each family’s unique needs, we humanize critical transitions, strengthen early parent-child bonds, and improve health outcomes for both caregivers and infants.
