Marijke (she/they) is a queer woman living in Hamilton, ON. She has worked as a doula for the last 4 years and is a trained birth and postpartum doula. Marijke is always educating herself further and is currently completing full-spectrum doula training with BADT Canada. Along with working as a birth worker, Marijke is a Feminist Counsellor and Advocate. All of the work Marijke does is through a trauma-informed and intersectional, anti-oppressive lens. Marijke is passionate about both birth and postpartum care. They believe all pregnancies and birthing people should be supported free of judgment, have access to evidence-based information, and be able to give informed consent. Marijke believes that advocacy is a key component of birth work. One of Marijke’s favourite things about getting to know the clients that she works with is being able to provide individualized support, care, and advocacy in the ways that are most meaningful to them.
