Birth Mark Doula and Program Support Assistant, Toronto
Specialty: full-spectrum doula, multiples
Monica (she/her) is Birth Mark’s Program Support Assistant, Young Parents Team Lead, and a certifying Full Spectrum doula. Monica practices from an evidence-based, compassionate care, client centered model. She recognizes that each client comes with unique needs, and provides support tailored to the individual. She supports people and their families through reproductive life events including: pregnancy, labour and birth, the postpartum period, and abortions. Monica is trained by DONA International in birth and postpartum doula support, and professionally trained in abortion doula support by The Doula Project. Monica offers her services to people from all walks of life and has experience working with multiples.
Her call to birth work began developing when completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology and studying topics relating to parent child relationships, the neuro-emotional development of infants, and mood disorders. Monica spent time abroad in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand living with and supporting families who had recently given birth. She quickly realized her calling for birth and postpartum support, and booked her doula training before her plane ticket home. Since returning to Toronto and professionally training as a doula, her passion for reproductive health support has flourished. Monica is humbled and honoured to be a part of her clients' lives and be witness to some of their most sacred moments.
When she isn’t supporting her clients, you can find Monica recharging in nature, spending time with friends and family, watch documentaries and trying new recipes!
